Facebook Giraffe Riddle — hint!

Posted on Posted in facebook

Facebook is being flooded with giraffes!  Did you miss something??  Yes – the Great Giraffe challenge is the brainchild of Andrew Strugnell.  It goes like this:

I am a sucker, I’ve changed my profile picture to a Giraffe. I tried to answer a riddle and got it wrong. Try the Great Giraffe Challenge. The deal is I give you a riddle. If you get it right you keep your profile picture, if your wrong you change your profile picture to a Giraffe for the next 3 days. MESSAGE ME ONLY, SO YOU DON’T GIVE THE ANSWER AWAY. Here is your riddle. Its 3am, the doorbell rings and you wake up. Unexpected visitors, its your parents and they are there for breakfast. You have strawberry jam, honey, wine, bread and cheese. Whats the first thing you open? REMEMBER Message me only, if you get it right I will leave your name here. If you’re wrong you change your profile picture.

It may seem like an easy riddle — especially for those of you smarty pants who can see past the first trick!  Let me help you out:  there’s a LOT of giraffe pictures out there if heading over to the zoo to snap your own picture isn’t on your todo list.  Be sure to include a fun adjective in your search like “purple giraffe,” “Halloween giraffe,” “flying” giraffe,” etc.  so you don’t end up with the same picture as all your friends.

Slow down and think it over one more time or you’ll end up like all the other Giraffe faces out there! I can’t bring myself to post actual spoilers, but ask yourself – why is it important that the joke takes place at 3am? Why couldn’t it happen at 7am or 10am?

That said, there are a LOT of picky giraffes out there who don’t agree with the official answer.  THEREFORE, there are currently TWO “correct” answers circulating.  Your answer will be wrong if it doesn’t match up with the “correct” answer that your friend happens to agree with.  Good luck with that!

Here is the original riddle on YouTube.  Oh you definitely want to watch because Andrew has a great smile (did I mention the Australian accent??):

The good news is that he has plans to release new riddles on this facebook page. He’s also been interviewed for news stories all over the world.  Don’t you wish you’d thought of it first 😉

Love, Jill
